ABOUT US

Children Making Positive Decisions (C.M.P.D.) is an initiative created by Officer Martin and Officer Lawton. C.M.P.D. focuses on positive social development and engagement with the youth of the community within their precinct.
Their initiative is based on the Gordon Allport's Contact Theory. The theory states that under appropriate conditions, interpersonal contact is one of the most effective ways to reduce prejudice between majority and minority group members.

Officer Martin and Officer Lawton believe that by positively engaging the children of the community, it will expose them to other ways of life which in turn will open up endless possibilities of thinking and lead to better choices and better lives for them and the community in which they live.

While policing our community, if we are consistent and positive we will be able to build strong foundations through personal relationships empowering the children to make positive decision and grow to become productive citizens.

With the help of our fellow officers serving in the Grier Heights Community, we are working to build positive relationships and improve police and community relations.
